Gold Elk Leather
These commercially-tanned elk hides are BIG - perfect for dresses, small robes, or any project needing a larger amount of hide. One side is sueded and the other has the smooth grain, and the gold colour is similar to a heavily-smoked brain-tanned hide. The leather is moderately easy to bead - a size 12 needle will pass through the hide with some resistance and will nick it easily. This leather is a four ounce ply - a heavier garment weight or a lighter upholstery weight - and is graded BB+, so there are some small holes and minor blemishes on the grain side.
