(sinkpe tawote; Acorus calamus). One of the most popular Lakota medicines, chewed for toothache and sore throat, made into cough syrup, chewed and placed on the hot stones in the sweat lodge to make a decongestant steam, and chewed by singers to keep their voices strong.
